Built in 1833, this 2012 James Beard Award semi-finalist for “Best New Restaurant” is located within a historic California landmark, the Stokes Adobe house, and offers top high-end farm-to-table cuisine from Per Se/Café Boulud alum Levi Mezick. Originally built as the town’s first pharmacy, the space is filled with memories of the past including a communal table sourced from Hearst Castle; herb-blended rye whiskies and silver-spoon absinthe service; and thousands of antiques and books lining the walls. To complement Mezick’s cuisine, Sommelier Ted Glennon, a Food & Wine Magazine Top Sommelier of 2012, has curated one of the top wine collections in the Central Coast that spills into two cellars featuring local and international cult producers, with more than 50 impressive offerings of Champagne and sparkling wine alone. Restaurant 1833 is currently open for dinner seven nights a week; from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Friday through Saturday, and from 5:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. on Sundays.
